A missed term is not a decision

“My mentor came to the house on a Saturday. She talked to my father for a long time and on Monday I went back.”
Josephine missed the first three weeks of second term. Her father had lost a season of cassava and the fees were not there.
Because her school shares its attendance register with our field team, the absence was flagged inside a fortnight. Her mentor visited, the term's fees were paid directly to the school, and Josephine returned.
She is now in Senior Two and sits near the front of the class.
